How can we help?
Most questions answered below. For anything else, real humans respond within 24 hours.
Getting started.
What does Mirror actually do? +
You set your post-tax hourly rate, then log your transactions manually. Mirror translates each one into the hours of your life it cost. The Mirror screen shows your last 30, 90, or 365 days as a single number — how many hours of your life this period of spending represents.
Why does Mirror wait 7 days before showing my first reflection? +
Less than 7 days of transactions is statistical noise. We wait until there’s enough data for the reflection to actually mean something. During the wait, you’ll see every transaction land with its time annotation in real-time. The synthesis takes a week.
Does Mirror connect to my bank? +
No. Mirror is fully offline by design. There is no Plaid integration, no payroll aggregator, no bank login, no account, no server. You enter your transactions yourself, the way you’d write them in a notebook. The trade-off is honest: you give up convenience and get a finance app that has nothing to leak.
How long does setup take? +
About 30 seconds. Set your hourly rate, log your first transaction, you’re done. No accounts, no email, no bank connection.
Hourly rate.
How do I figure out my post-tax hourly rate? +
Take your annual take-home pay (after federal, provincial/state, and payroll taxes) and divide by the hours you actually count toward work. The math is yours, on your phone — Mirror keeps it simple and visible. If you’d rather start rough and refine later, that’s fine; the rate is editable any time.
What if I have variable income or multiple jobs? +
Set a single representative rate that reflects your average post-tax take-home. Editable any time in Settings. The reflection is meant to be a north star, not a tax filing — pick a rate that feels honest to you.
Can I update my rate later? +
Yes, anytime in Settings. Historical Time Wealth annotations stay pinned to whatever rate was active when each transaction was logged.
Privacy & security.
Does Mirror have a server? +
No. Mirror has no backend, no API, no sync server. The app makes zero network calls. Your transactions live in the iOS app sandbox on your device only — encrypted by Apple’s hardware Data Protection whenever your device is locked.
What does Mirror collect? +
Nothing. There is no analytics, no crash reporter, no advertising SDK, no telemetry. We can’t tell you opened the app because we don’t have anywhere to receive that information. The App Store privacy disclosures reflect this — every category is set to “Data Not Collected”.
Why don’t share cards show dollar amounts? +
By design. People won’t share things that reveal their income or specific spending. Time is universal — a $20/hr earner and a $200/hr earner can both relate to ‘12 hours on takeout this month.’ This is enforced at the rendering pipeline level, not just the UI.
Pricing.
Is Mirror really free forever? +
Yes. Mirror has no servers, so it has no recurring cost to pass on. There’s nothing being held back behind a paywall. If a paid tier ever exists, it’ll buy something genuinely new — never something we kept out of the free version.
Troubleshooting.
Some transactions show the wrong amount. +
Tap the transaction in Activity to edit it. Manual entry means typos happen — it also means corrections are instant.
My share card looks wrong. +
If a number seems off, check that your hourly rate is set correctly (Settings → Rate). The share card pulls from the same rate as your Mirror screen.
