Terms of Service.

Last updated: May 6, 2026 Version 1.0
The short version

Mirror is a tool for reflecting on your spending. It is not financial advice. Use it for what it’s designed for and don’t try to break it.

Pro subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled. Cancel anytime, you keep access through the end of your billing period.

We’re based in Ontario; these terms are governed by Ontario law.

1

Acceptance of these terms.

By creating an account or using Mirror in any way, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use Mirror.

These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Redact Labs Inc., the operator of Mirror.

2

What Mirror is.

Mirror is a personal finance application that translates your spending into hours of work, calculated from a user-provided or payroll-derived hourly rate. It is a reflection tool. It is not financial, tax, legal, or investment advice.

Hourly rate calculations, including post-tax estimates, are best-effort approximations based on standard tax tables and the data you provide. They are not a substitute for advice from a licensed accountant or financial planner.

3

Eligibility.

To use Mirror, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a resident of Canada or the United States (additional jurisdictions added over time).
  • Have legal authority over the financial accounts you connect.
  • Provide accurate information when creating your account.
  • Not be barred from using Mirror under applicable law.
4

Your account.

You are responsible for the security of your Mirror account, including your password and any device that has Mirror installed and signed in.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter — particularly your hourly rate. If you misconfigure your rate, your Mirror reflections will be inaccurate.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, attempt to circumvent security controls, or are used for fraud or abuse.

5

Acceptable use.

You agree not to:

  • Use Mirror for any illegal purpose or to facilitate illegal activity.
  • Connect financial accounts you don’t own or have authority over.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Mirror app or service.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users’ data or to Mirror’s infrastructure.
  • Use Mirror to scrape, harvest, or collect data systematically.
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute Mirror or its data exports.
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
  • Interfere with the proper operation of Mirror.
6

Pricing.

Mirror is free to download and use, with no in-app purchases and no paid tier as of this version. Mirror has no servers and no recurring infrastructure cost to recover, so there is nothing to bill for.

If a future version introduces an optional paid feature, it will be processed through the App Store and governed by Apple’s standard subscription rules. We will update these Terms before any such tier ships.

7

Third-party services.

Mirror is fully offline and does not connect to your bank, credit card, payroll, or any third-party data aggregator. The only third-party service in the Mirror surface is the iOS platform itself, governed by Apple’s standard terms. If a future version introduces optional iCloud sync, that sync will be governed by your existing iCloud Terms with Apple.

8

Intellectual property.

Mirror, including its design, code, branding, and content, is the property of Redact Labs Inc. and protected by Canadian and international copyright and trademark law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Mirror for personal, non-commercial purposes for as long as you have the app installed.

The data you generate (your transactions, your annotations, your share cards) belongs to you. We hold a license to process and display it solely to operate Mirror.

9

Disclaimers.

Mirror is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do our best to keep it accurate, secure, and reliable, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or that the calculations will match what a tax professional would produce.

We disclaim, to the maximum extent permitted by law, all implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Mirror is a tool. You’re responsible for the decisions you make based on what it shows you.

10

Limitation of liability.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Redact Labs Inc.’s total liability for any claim arising out of or related to Mirror — across all claims combined — is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim, or (b) $100 CAD.

We are not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.

11

Indemnification.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Redact Labs Inc., its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of Mirror, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

12

Termination.

You can terminate your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. Termination is permanent and irreversible.

We can terminate your account for material violation of these Terms, with reasonable notice and an opportunity to cure where the violation can be cured.

On termination, your data is removed per the schedule in our Privacy Policy. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive (limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law) survive termination.

13

Governing law and disputes.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Mirror will be resolved in the courts of Toronto, Ontario, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.

14

Changes to these terms.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email and via in-app notification at least 30 days before they take effect.

If you don’t agree to a material change, your remedy is to stop using Mirror and delete your account.
